What is The City?

As a church that meets every week in three separate services, we naturally have to work harder to:
• build community within the church
• connect new people to the church
• communicate timely and efficiently with the church body

The City is a web-based networking tool specifically designed to help us get connected, build community and organize church life.

Who is The City for?

The City is intended to serve as a point-of-connection for those who consider Crossroads Church their home. Once The City is launched, it will be a primary source to communicate information and facilitate interaction within the church.

But just to be clear, The City is NOT…

  • A system that only tech-savvy people can use. If you have ever sent an email, you can use The City
  • A replacement for real face-to-face communication. The City is tool to help us build community, not replace it.
  • A replacement for other existing online social networks (i.e., Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.).

The City is an online tool designed to promote personal connection, interaction and ministry within the church.  Examples of practical functions provided within The City include…

  • Organizing meals for a family in need without having to make numerous phone calls and keep a written list of who is bringing what…
  • Having access to a summary of all the prayers God has answered in your small group…
  • Finding out when important events are coming up and being able to sign up online…
  • Learning about various needs in the church and community and opportunities to serve.

These are just a few of the ways The City will help facilitate the vision and mission of Crossroads Church!

Where do we go from here?

We are planning a BIG introduction of The City on September 13 at Crossroads Together. This is when we will launch Crossroads on The City and everyone will be invited to sign up. Until then, here are a couple of important things to do:

  • Make sure you have a personal email address. Each member of The City will need their own email address to participate. If you do not have a personal email account, we suggest signing up through Gmail or Yahoo mail.
  • Invest some time to gain a better understanding of the role of “the church” in God’s redemptive plan for mankind.
  • Some suggestions include…

  1. Actively participate in the current Sunday morning series on “The Committed Church” by Pastor Todd (crossroadslive.com/growth-tools/teaching-archives)
  2. Read The Living Church by John Stott and/or Why We Love the Church by Kevin DeYoung (now available at The Commons for 40% off retail)
  3. Sign up for The City on September 13 at Crossroads Together!
