About a year ago I was listening to Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church online in his Doctrinal Series. He went into depth as well on what it means to be crucified. When I heard in detail what he went through, all because He loved me so much to be punished in my place for my sins, I began to ball my eyes out. It is good to be reminded periodically because I get so caught up with my trials I am currently going through that I forget how little I am suffering compared to what Jesus went through for my sake. I am glad that you chose this topic to go along with your Wednesday night series because for me it makes it easier to be not so self centered in my 'boohooing' but to put my eyes back on Jesus. He died for me then and I shouldn't be putting Him back on the cross while feeling sorry for myself.

To sit, like Mary, at the feet of Jesus is, as He said, "the good part, which shall not be taken away..." Luke 10:42

This has been a rather silent thread, I think, because of the weight of the subject matter. There were and are only two responses at the foot of the Cross- loud mocking and silent sorrow. It's not that we couldn't discuss the Cross everyday at great length because we most certainly could; it's that the Cross is where Jesus alone spoke. Ken's response says it all, both in regard to the above hymn and to Sunday's sermon.
Todd- so ya know, I've had quite a few folks bring up Sunday's message and convey to me how moved/convicted/impressed they were by it. It did what the Lord intended.

"Blackest day of nameless anguish can my thankless sould forget?"
Lord, help us to remember, daily, in all our thoughts, encounters, doings, the cost it took to save us.
Sunday was powerful. Communion was so meaningful for us all. To simply remember is sometimes overwhelming.
Thanks Todd and Suzanne.
